It's Election Day, November 3, 2026, and Americans are heading to the polls to decide who controls Congress for the next two years.

Every one of the 435 seats in the U.S. House is on the ballot, along with 35 of the 100 Senate seats (the 33 regular Class II seats plus special elections in Florida and Ohio). Going in, Republicans hold the Senate 53-47 and the House 218-214, with 2 House seats vacant.

The math to watch:

- House: 218 seats wins the majority.

- Senate: 65 seats aren't up this year, 31 Republican and 34 Democratic (counting independents Angus King and Bernie Sanders, who caucus with Democrats). Democrats need 17 of the 35 races to reach 51. Republicans need 19 to reach 50, since the Vice President breaks a tie.

Battlegrounds include Georgia, Michigan and North Carolina, plus closer-than-usual races in Alaska, Kansas, Ohio and Texas.

Starting at 8 PM Eastern, this story's results chart will update every 15 minutes as races are called by major news outlets, then every 30 minutes after midnight. Red bars show Republican seats and blue bars show Democratic seats. Check back tonight!

Go vote if you haven't, and God bless America.
